Who carries out the treatments?

Treatments at Oxford Cosmetic Clinic are carried out by our doctors, Dr Ben Soukup and Dr Josh Pincombe.
Both doctors have medical backgrounds and experience in aesthetic medicine. We believe that aesthetic treatments should be approached with the same attention to clinical assessment, safety and informed consent as any other medical treatment.

Where is Oxford Cosmetic Clinic located?

We currently have clinics in Abingdon and Ardington, Oxfordshire.
Our Abingdon clinic is conveniently located in central Abingdon, while our Ardington clinic provides a discreet setting with onsite parking and is convenient for patients travelling from Wantage, Grove, Didcot, Harwell and surrounding areas.

Do I need a consultation before treatment?

Yes. We believe an appropriate consultation is an important part of safe and effective aesthetic treatment.
Your doctor will discuss your concerns, medical history, expectations and treatment options. Where appropriate, they will explain the potential benefits, risks and alternatives before agreeing on a treatment plan.
For prescription-only treatments, including anti-wrinkle injections, treatment can only be prescribed following an appropriate consultation with a doctor.

How much does a consultation cost?

Our initial consultation is £25.
The consultation fee is deducted from the cost of subsequent treatment, excluding Obagi® skincare products.

Can I have a consultation without having treatment?

Absolutely.
A consultation gives you an opportunity to discuss your concerns and understand the treatment options available to you. There is no obligation to proceed with treatment.
We encourage patients to take time to consider their options before deciding whether treatment is right for them.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment FAQs

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are prescription-only treatments used to temporarily reduce the appearance of dynamic facial lines by reducing the activity of specific muscles.

They may be used to treat areas such as:

• Frown lines

• Crow's feet

• Bunny lines

• Lip lines

• Neck lines

Your doctor will assess your facial movement and anatomy before discussing whether treatment is appropriate.

Is Botox the same as anti-wrinkle treatment?

"Botox" is a commonly used term for botulinum toxin treatment, although Botox® is a specific brand.
At Oxford Cosmetic Clinic, we generally use the term anti-wrinkle treatment when describing the treatment itself.
As botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine, treatment is only prescribed following an appropriate consultation with one of our doctors.

Will anti-wrinkle treatment make me look frozen?

Our approach is to aim for natural-looking results rather than an overly treated appearance.
The amount and location of treatment can be tailored to your facial anatomy, muscle activity and desired outcome. Your doctor will discuss what can realistically be achieved during your consultation.
The aim is to soften unwanted lines while maintaining natural facial movement where appropriate.

How long does anti-wrinkle treatment take to work?

Results are not immediate. Some patients begin to notice changes within several days, with the full effect generally developing over approximately 10–14 days. We routinely offer a complimentary review after treatment so that your doctor can assess the result and discuss any concerns.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

The duration of effect varies between individuals and depends on factors including the treatment area, muscle activity and individual response. Your doctor will discuss what you can reasonably expect during your consultation.

What happens after anti-wrinkle treatment?

You can generally return to normal activities relatively quickly following treatment. We provide personalised aftercare advice following your treatment. We also recommend avoiding unnecessary manipulation or massage of treated areas and following the specific advice provided by your doctor.

Profhilo® FAQs

What is Profhilo®?

Profhilo® is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment designed to improve skin hydration and support skin quality.
Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Profhilo® is not primarily designed to add volume or change facial shape. It is often chosen by patients looking to improve the appearance and quality of their skin while maintaining a natural appearance.

What does Profhilo® do?

Profhilo® can help improve aspects of skin quality including:

• Hydration

• Skin smoothness

• Fine lines

• Skin elasticity

• Overall skin quality

 
Your doctor will assess whether Profhilo® is appropriate for your skin and discuss realistic expectations.

How many Profhilo® treatments do I need?

A commonly used initial treatment programme involves two treatments approximately four weeks apart, although your doctor will recommend a treatment plan based on your individual needs.
A consultation allows us to assess your skin and discuss whether Profhilo® is appropriate for you.

When will I see results from Profhilo®?

Some improvement may become noticeable after treatment, with skin quality continuing to develop over the following weeks.
Individual results vary, and your doctor will explain what you can realistically expect.

Is Profhilo® the same as dermal filler?

No.
Profhilo® and dermal fillers are different treatments with different purposes.
Dermal fillers can be used to restore or add volume and alter facial contours, whereas Profhilo® is primarily used to improve skin hydration and quality without being intended to create traditional filler volume.
Your doctor can discuss which option, if any, is appropriate for you.

Obagi® Medical Skincare FAQs

What is Obagi® Medical skincare?

Obagi® Medical is a range of medical-grade skincare products designed to address concerns including:

• Hyperpigmentation

• Melasma

• Sun damage

• Uneven skin tone

• Fine lines

• Acne

• Skin ageing

 
Some Obagi® products are prescription-only, so a medical consultation may be required before they can be supplied.

Can Obagi® help with pigmentation and melasma?

Obagi® Medical skincare can form part of a treatment programme for pigmentation and melasma.
However, pigmentation has many possible causes and melasma can be particularly difficult to manage. A personalised assessment is therefore important before starting a medical-grade skincare programme.
We can help develop a skincare plan based on your skin type, concerns and previous treatments.

Can I buy Obagi® products without a consultation?

Some Obagi® products are available without prescription, while others require a consultation with a suitably qualified healthcare professional.
Where prescription-strength products are appropriate, these will only be prescribed following an appropriate clinical assessment.
